Frequently Asked Questions about Learning to Fly:

I'm flying with an instructor at another flight school. Can I fly at Flights, Inc., with my current instructor?
No, you can not. For insurance reasons, only instructors approved by Flights, Inc., may give flight instruction in a Flights, Inc. aircraft.
What does FAA Part 141 Approved mean?
FAA approved flight schools meet rigorous standards set by the FAA regarding facilities, equipment, and personnel. FAA approved flight schools provide a higher quality flight training than non-approved schools.
Does Flights, Inc. offer financial aid?
Flights, Inc. can help you secure a Sallie Mae loan to cover some or all of your flight training costs.
How long does it take to get my pilot certificate?
Each student progresses at a different rate. While there are minimum training requirements, most students require more than the minimum time to become competent pilots. There is a minimum of 40 hours of flight time for a Part 61 student, but the average student will take about 62 hours of flight time to become competent.
Where do I get my student pilot certificate?
Your medical certificate also serves as your student pilot certificate. To get your medical certificate, you must undergo a physical exam by an FAA medical examiner. The FAA provides a list of medical examiners on the following website: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/amelocator/.
